The Top 10 Wedding Trends of 2024

Weddings are evolving, they are changing quickly for many reasons. Society is changing economically, and ecologically, and social media continues to drive trends right across the globe. It is prudent for every wedding pro to keep abreast of the changes, to keep on top of the curve.

The rate of change is getting faster and faster every year and 2024 promises to bring exciting trends that cater to diverse tastes and styles. We deal with thousands of wedding venues, vendors, and planners right across the globe, we attend a lot of industry conferences and events, and we hear a lot about the change as it is happening.

Here are the biggest wedding trends to watch this year:

1. Sustainable Weddings

As a society as a whole, we are slowly becoming more eco-conscious. As wedding couples, it is now a hip trend, and weddings are quickly becoming very eco-conscious with more and more couples opting for sustainable weddings. From eco-friendly invitations to zero-waste catering and ethically sourced attire, sustainability is at the forefront of many of the weddings we see this year. Venues with green certifications and sustainable practices are in high demand, and many couples are choosing local, seasonal flowers and plant-based menus.

Getting your venue or vendor/planner business eco-certified is something that a lot of businesses are going to be looking to do in the next 24 months.

2. Intimate Celebrations

As in prior years, micro-weddings and elopements continue to be popular. These smaller, more intimate gatherings allow for personalized experiences and meaningful interactions. With fewer guests, couples can allocate more budget towards creating a memorable and luxurious experience for their closest family and friends. We see this trend continuing, and more and more smaller intimate venues are going to keep popping up.

3. Bold Color Palettes

Gone are the days of pastel-only weddings. 2024 is all about bold, vibrant color palettes. Expect to see lots of rich hues like deep emerald, royal blue, and ruby red, paired with metallic accents. These bold colors are being incorporated into everything from bridesmaid dresses to table settings and floral arrangements.

4. Technology Integration

Technology is playing a significant role in modern weddings, in many different ways. Live streaming for guests who can't attend in person, interactive wedding websites, and digital RSVPs are becoming standard. The leading venues, vendors, and planners are all using CRM systems that give their couples powerful client portals. This is becoming expected by clients. Couples are also using augmented reality for unique wedding experiences.

6. Non-Traditional Venues

Unique and unconventional venues are on the rise. From industrial warehouses and rooftop gardens, and small farm barns, to historical libraries and art galleries, couples are seeking venues that reflect their personalities and offer a distinct backdrop for their celebrations.

7. Old School Vibe

Vintage and retro-inspired weddings are making a comeback. Think 1920s Gatsby glam, 1950s rock and roll, and 1970s bohemian chic. These themes are being expressed through attire, decor, and even music, with live bands playing era-specific tunes. Couples are looking for something different and this certainly gives them that.

5. Personalize It Please!

Customization is key in 2024. Couples are personalizing every aspect of their wedding, from monogrammed details and bespoke wedding favors to personalized vows and tailored menus. This trend extends to the guest experience, with interactive elements like custom cocktail bars and live entertainment tailored to the couple's tastes.

8. Inclusive Menus

Inclusivity in catering is more important than ever. Couples are ensuring their menus cater to all dietary needs, including vegan, gluten-free, and allergen-friendly options. Interactive food stations and globally inspired cuisine are also trending, offering guests a diverse and memorable dining experience.

9. Weekday Weddings

Weekday weddings are gaining popularity due to their cost-effectiveness and availability. Plus workplaces are becoming more flexible to allow for this. Venues and vendors often discounts for weekday bookings, allowing couples to have their dream wedding without compromising on their budget.

10. Dramatic Floral Arrangements

Floral arrangements are becoming more dramatic and statement-making. Expect to see oversized bouquets, floral installations, and creative uses of greenery. Dried flowers and pampas grass are also popular, adding texture and a modern twist to traditional arrangements.

Conclusion

The wedding trends of 2024 reflect a shift towards sustainability, personalization, and creativity. Couples are more focused on creating unique, memorable experiences that reflect their values and personalities. Whether it’s through bold color choices, technology integration, or sustainable practices, 2024 weddings are set to be as diverse and dynamic as the couples planning them.
